About Cosmetic Dentistry
Looking and feeling more confident about your smile is a legitimate goal
Cosmetic dentistry covers any treatment that improves the appearance of your teeth — whether that's the colour, the shape, the alignment, or the overall impression your smile makes. At Victoria Family Dental Centre, we take cosmetic goals seriously without overpromising.

Dr. Crowe has a particular interest in cosmetic work and a track record of results that look natural rather than overdone. Before recommending any treatment, we take the time to understand what you want to achieve — and give you an honest assessment of how to get there.

Cosmetic Dental Services in Oak Bay
Each of these treatments addresses something different. Understanding what each one does — and how they can work together — helps you make an informed decision about where to start.
If the position of your teeth is the issue — crowding, spacing, or a bite that doesn't sit quite right — Invisalign addresses the underlying alignment rather than masking it. Clear, removable aligners shift your teeth gradually over 12 to 18 months, with results most people around you won't notice until they're done.

Invisalign is often the right starting point before other cosmetic work, because getting alignment right first means veneers or whitening can do their job properly.

Invisalign Clear Aligners

Veneers are thin custom-made shells of dental porcelain bonded to the front surface of your teeth.
They can change the colour, shape, length, and overall look of your smile in one treatment — with results that look completely natural when done well.

They're well-suited to patients with staining that doesn't respond to whitening, chips or cracks, worn edges, or minor spacing concerns. Two appointments, lasting results.

Porcelain Veneers
If the shape and position of your teeth are fine and you just want them brighter, professional whitening is the most straightforward option.
We offer custom take-home trays with professional-grade whitening gel — the same results as in-office whitening, on your own schedule.
Whitening works on natural tooth enamel and won't change the colour of existing crowns or veneers. If you have restorations in visible areas, we'll factor that into the plan before you start.

Many patients benefit from combining treatments — in the right order. Here's how the three cosmetic services typically work together when a more complete result is the goal.

Not every patient needs all three — a consultation is the best way to figure out which treatment, or combination, is right for your situation.
A cosmetic plan... not just a single treatment
1st
Start with alignment
If your teeth are crowded, spaced unevenly, or your bite is off, Invisalign is the logical first step. Getting alignment right means any cosmetic work on top of it — veneers, whitening — will look better and last longer.
2nd
Then address shape
Once alignment is where you want it, veneers can address the shape, size, and surface of individual teeth. Chips, worn edges, staining that won't whiten — veneers handle all of it in a single treatment.
3rd
Finish with colour
Whitening is the final step — bringing the natural teeth up to match or complement any veneers. Done last, it gives you the most even, controlled result. Many patients do whitening on its own as a standalone treatment too.

A note from Dr. Crowe
"Good cosmetic work should look like nothing was done. The goal is a smile that suits you — not one that announces itself. I take that seriously, and I'll always tell you honestly what I think will achieve the best result for your situation."
